Where am I?

becoming a parent

Consider This: consider this, mom

  • Are you ready to help a child feel loved and wanted?
  • Are you ready to cope with tighter budgets, less time for yourself and more stress?
  • Do you have the support of family and friends?
  • Do you have someone to talk to about this?

These questions probably produce many different emotions. Deciding to be a parent often brings on overwhelming feelings of stress as you prepare to bring a child into your life. You have seen others care for their children. You have seen what you think are good ways to parent a child and not so good, or harmful ways to parent. Now YOU have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life by making choices that are in the child’s best interests.

In order to be a good parent, you must have realistic expectations. Being a good parent is not always easy. It takes time and patience with preparation, seeking guidance and learning new techniques to deal with difficult behavior. It is not an easy feat, but there are many rewards when you put the effort into making a positive home for a child.
