When considering an adoption, or any plan for the baby, the baby’s father should be a part of the planning process. You may be in a situation where you don’t know who the baby’s father is, so his participation is not possible. But, if the birth father is known, it is important that he is informed about the pregnancy. In Missouri, both the mother AND father have rights and responsibilities related to the baby and both have a voice in planning for the child’s future.
